Story
Fire Light
Even the wildest places offer moments of peace; when they do, they feel like gifts. On Harris, these rare slivers of beauty are hard-earned and unforgettable. Open air, wild ocean, and the freedom to chase the light with my camera until the colours finally give way to dusk.
Sometimes, it’s almost impossible to explain what you’ve seen. You stand in a place like this, spellbound by salt air and silence, watching colours rise that no one would believe—until the original image proves they were real.
Hebridean autumns are full of drama. One minute, fierce and unforgiving. The next, filled with light that seeps into everything it touches. This November evening, I stood high on the dunes at Luskentyre, watching the sun slip behind the North Harris hills. Above me, the sky burned with surreal hues—yellows, fuchsia, and firelit magenta. Nature’s final bow before nightfall.
I’ll never forget that feeling. And that’s why I take photographs like this—to hold on to something that already feels like a memory the moment it happens. Fleeting beauty. A reminder of how lucky I am to be here.
