Ian Lawson presents three beautifully imagined XL Art Books. All the way through the photographer's journey, from dreams and desires to realisation. Blending documentary and landscape genres, Ian's work weaves together evocative picture stories from the Outer Hebrides, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
Story
I’ve spent the last two days in remote Uig, home to ancient chessmen, long abandoned villages and cleared crofts. But communities continue to proudly cling to this beautiful place, renewing their relationship with the land, deepening their connections with each passing year. The hills rise up, cutting a swathe into low banks of Atlantic cloud and from the wound bursts sunlight, bringing blue-greens to the bay below. These are the moments I long and wait for. It’s not an easy place to get to, and not an easy place to leave.
