Story
Wide as the Heart
Every once in a while, the planet does something quietly extraordinary—reminding us just how beautiful this world can be. Luskentyre is full of such moments, and on evenings like this, in the hush of October twilight, I’m grateful to be caught in its elemental spell, working alone with only my sheepdog for company. From the top of this dune, there’s no finer place to watch a weather front roll in off the Atlantic.
Here, the sky feels as wide as the soul can imagine. Clouds merge like poetry overhead—changing shape, catching light, and sometimes stirring tears, just for being what they are.
This was one of those nights. Even now, looking back at the picture, I feel a deep gratitude—for the place, the moment, and the people who call the Hebrides home. My panoramic camera captures it best—closer to how the eye truly sees it, with space to breathe and feel the wild embrace of land, sea and sky.
