Ian Lawson presents three beautifully imagined XL Art Books. All the way through the photographer's journey, from dreams and desires to realisation. Blending documentary and landscape genres, Ian's work weaves together evocative picture stories from the Outer Hebrides, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
I have fallen for the wild flowers along these Outer Hebridean shores. How can my camera capture the beauty of such swathes of rare grassland, where do I even begin? In a chain of ever-changing blooms, the fragile flora segues through their seasonal colour schemes in great sweeps past the high-tide lines. They boast a short-lived bounty, beautifully uncohesive of palette and in such a riotous milieu. I decide to fix a moment of machair time in close-up, knowing full well the coming weeks will bring a new sea of bright pigment and petals and my search for their wholeness will never be satisfied.
