Story
Eyes of Wonder
The Herdwick’s charm is enduringly powerful. With their woolled coats, white faces, and soulful eyes, they can stop people in their tracks—even those who never imagined they’d feel a connection to a sheep. But these are no ordinary sheep—they are a breed apart.
As a photographer working in the Lake District, I’ve come to understand the hold they have on me. It’s their resilience, their ancient bond with the fells, and their steadfast endurance of whatever the seasons bring. They inherently belong here, both physically and spiritually.
Each one is a character; every face tells a story. Long may they remain part of this working landscape—farmed, cherished, and, if lucky, met eye to eye.
