Gift of Nature
I’ve said it more times than I care to admit— “I’ll come back and photograph that.” But time rarely waits. Sometimes, you just have to stop. Right then, right there.
Reef was one of those moments. Some of the most beautiful gardens in the world have no gardener at all—and the machair here is one of them. Nature’s own masterpiece: a fleeting, untamed bloom that sweeps across the shoreline in a wild, living tapestry.
Beyond the high-tide line, petals sway in the salt breeze, alive with bees and the soft call of seabirds. This fragile habitat, nourished by the island’s alkaline sands, thrives for only a short time each year—a gift as brief as it is breathtaking.
No camera could ever fully hold its wonder. You simply have to be there. And on this day, I’m glad I didn’t pass it by.
