Story
We Stand Together
On Lakeland’s central fells, the Herdwicks are just about holding on. Places that were once secure strongholds have seen their numbers dwindle with the passing years. But standing here on Pike o’ Blisco, I feel fortunate to still share the heights with these two hardy ewes.
Among these awe-inspiring vistas, I often reflect on how my photographic journey has become deeply entwined with theirs. Each frame tells a story—a tribute to the enduring bond between people, nature, and this working landscape. It wouldn’t feel the same without them.
And despite what some may say, wildlife is thriving all around us today. When done with care, farming and nature can live side by side. May these hills always echo with the sound of sheep and shepherds, just as they have for centuries.
